I have 11 afa figs.working with them is okay.you have to figure out how long you want them to take, how much you want to spend,If you are going to try to sell them it can end up being worth it if you have a great fig graded. But if you like the cases it would be cheaper to just buy the case online.I personally like graded figs I think it is kinda pricy to have someone to tell me how perfect my toys are but it is up tp you really weather if you want to put more money in to your figs.Hope this helps out some.

I've sent a few figures off to be graded. I sent 8 in the last lot. In US$ terms, it cost $18 for the service, $3 for postage there and $5 for postage back per figure. 8 Vader figures: 6 Saga #13 and a couple Canadian OTCs. I sent another box at the begining of this month with 10 more and expect them back by Christmas.
I have no intention of selling them at the moment, though if I ever did sell them I think I'd easily make that money back. Not too many graded figures show up in Australia because of the costs involved in sending them there and back, but they tend to be fairly popular.
Why grading? I want to keep my figures in good condition for as long as possible. Also, I want uniformity in my display. I just think graded collections display better.
Grading isn't for everyone, and really only makes sense for vintage figures as it protects buyers by providing an opinion from a trusted third party. All ungraded figures you find on ebay seem to be perfectly mint, at least until they get delivered to your door. New figures wouldn't benefit as much from grading as vintage ones.
One thing I'll say is that they pack really well. My box of eight graded figures came wrapped in two bunches of 4. Each bunch had 4-5 layers of bubble wrap around them. These were then put in a box with at least 10cm of packing peanuts on each side. The box was HUGE! Cool thing is that I paid for surface postage, but it somehow got delivered by air!

| AFA is a rip off service. You're basically paying for someone else's opinion on your figure. It's not like they have any authority on the matter (no one does) they just say they do and charge you for it. |

AFA is a matter of persoanl preferance.
Alot of people say 'wtf? it's a waste of money.' This is a valid argument. You ARE paying for what people CLAIM to be a professional opinion. Where do they get their 'professional' training? I could not tell you. This argument is valid.
I like AFA for the following reasons because of uniformity and preservation. I don't currently own any because of money, though.
